Rogue Blog Code of Conduct

Welcome to our blog!

We’re thrilled you’re here to have a conversation about Machine Learning, Industrial tech, and whatever else we may delve into.

We do have a code of conduct in order to keep our conversations fun and professional, and we would appreciate everyone’s adherence to the rules. Without further ado:

  1. We take responsibility not just for our own words, but for the comments we allow on our blog.

  2. There will be no abusive comments.  We will delete your post.

  3. No anonymous comments.  We are just trying to have a friendly conversation.

  4. If needed, we will take the conversation offline and talk directly – use the contact section for this.

  5. If you know someone who is behaving badly, please tell them. If that doesn’t work, you can always report them.

  6. We don't say anything online that you wouldn't say in person.

If you are going to post on this site here are a few simple rules to follow:

 Be Honest and Fair

  1. Never plagiarize.  Everyone uses “cut and paste”.  Just give credit when due. Eg. this code of conduct was copied and pasted from a wonderful blog called The Common Canuck, which can be found here: https://roncoj.wixsite.com/commoncanuck

  2. Identify and link to your sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information as possible on sources’ reliability.

  3. Make certain that Weblog entries, quotations, headlines, photos and all other content do not misrepresent. They should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context.

  4. Never distort the content of photos without disclosing what has been changed. Image enhancement is only acceptable for technical clarity. Label montages and photo illustrations.

  5. No fake news.  Never publish information you know is inaccurate — and if publishing questionable information, make it clear it’s in doubt.

  6. Distinguish between advocacy, commentary and factual information. Even advocacy writing and commentary should not misrepresent fact or context.

  7. Distinguish factual information and commentary from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between the two.

Be Accountable

  1. Admit mistakes and correct them promptly.

  2. Disclose conflicts of interest, affiliations, activities and personal agendas.

  3. Be wary of sources offering information for favors. When accepting such information, disclose the favors.

  4. Expose unethical practices of other bloggers.

  5. Abide by the same high standards to which they hold others.

If you are found to be in violation of the above rules, you will be barred from the site.

Thank you everyone!
